Last week went much smoother than I imagined. Keith got to come home a for a while on Saturday afternoon, and then was back in Conway by 7:30 on Sunday morning! I know he probably doesn't think so, but I really am happy that he has this chance to serve on the board of Dixie Band Camp - even if just as an associate member. This is a place that he spent 6 or 7 summers and has been there to work for probably just as many - maybe more now. It is, however, the first time he's ever gone to both weeks, so it is a little inconvenient for us left at home.
Monday, the kids went to MDO and I looked around at a teacher store for a bit. I ate lunch with some friends from work and got to see my friend Dolores. She had to leave work in April to be with her mother in Colorado and we hadn't seen her in weeks! It was great to see her and some of the girls that I've eaten lunch with for 3 years. I will miss them so much this coming year!
Wednesday, my mom was off work - that was a big help. We went to the fabric store and started working (she did anyway) on a couple of dresses for Claire. I was able to clean out the sewing room some - even though it will always be a mess! We were going to visit Keith at Dixie, but there was no way I was going to "waste" a day that my mom was off and could hang out with us!
Thursday, Keith's parents took both kids camping! I never thought Claire would make it, but they said she had a great time! I had a lovely day - and got a pedicure. It was great. Cha-ching Cherry is the color I picked. I LOVE OPI nail polish.
Saturday, the kids came home and they were dirty and exhausted. Unfortunately, Claire hasn't been herself since Sat. I think she 's cutting a tooth and has been completely out of sorts ever since. She has cried almost constantly and doesn't want you holding her at all. It's very sad. She isn't sleeping much, and that's just totally out of character for her. It's been a long few days, that's for sure.
B/c of they she's felt, we didn't leave the house Sunday. Yesterday, we did go to Walmart and she was pretty good (they both were). Yesterday afternoon and last night was a different story. I'm praying that it will be over soon. We are all very tired!
We did put water in our little wading pool yesterday and put it on the back deck. They played for a while and had a good time. Claire got tired of it pretty quickly, but Eli could've stayed in it all day! I don't think he'll feel that way next week for swimming lessons!
I haven't taken many pictures, but I can't find the camera right now anyway. Today, Memaw and Lisa took the kids to their house for a while. Since Claire was up off an on until about 2:30 and then just as I dozed off, Eli woke up, I took a little nap. I hope they aren't being too fussy while they are there. I sure do appreciate the help!
Tomorrow, my mom is off again (an answer to a prayer I didn't even pray. What's that verse about we don't even know what to pray but the holy spirit intercedes for our groanings anyway?). Thursday, I think we'll go visit DBC. Friday, my mom is on vacation is is planning to take Eli to LR so they can work on the house there. Saturday, Keith comes HOME!!!! It will probably be later, but we don't care! He'll be home!!!!! I have always had an admiration for single moms and wives of deployed service-men - but never so much as right now!!! Thanks for all they do.

The weekend so far
Yesterday after nap, Memaw and Papaw came to get E and C, so they could spend the night with them. They went on vacation last week and drove all the way to New Mexico and did some sight-seeing out there. Keith got some yard work done, since he'll be gone for a while, and then we decided to go to Little Rock. Actually, we were headed to Jonesboro until some pretty severe weather headed this way and it was clearer in LR. Our first stop was Kohls, where Keith got some more shorts to take to camp. I called my parents and they were on there way to Little Rock too! So, we met up and shopped for a bit, then ate a late dinner (I can't remember the last time I ate dinner at 9:00) at Outback. It was soooo yummy! And I think that wasn't just b/c it was so late and we were hungry. After dinner, we went to Walmart and Keith bought a new tv. It will eventually go in our bedroom, but for the next 2 weeks, it will be in a dorm room at UCA.
We left LR last night at 11:00pm - and had totally forgotten that we had to be on the road to Walnut Ridge to see the girls perform at flag camp by 8! We made it just fine. Oh my gosh, it was hot on that bus. But, it was nice just to hang out with Keith and some of the band moms and girls. They did really well at camp and won several outstanding awards. Go Pioneer band!
While we were smothering on a bus, Keith's parents took E and C to Bethesda Day. They had a blast. There was a parade and E was so excited b/c Papaw drove the firetruck and Eli got to ride and turn on the siren! They had games and a bounce house and then, they even took a nap when they got back to Memaw and Papaw's house. I know they must have been so tired! But, I'm sure they all enjoyed it!
Tomorrow is church and then K leaves for camp after lunch. He's on the board this year and next, so that means 2 weeks of camp (in a row!). I'm a little anxious about how 2 weeks will go with me and E and C all day for that long by ourselves, but I know it will be fine. I have been doing lots of praying about it (and some stressing, of course). Need to do more praying than stressing - and I "ran across" this Bible verse this week "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" Hebrews 4:16 NIV I will be claiming that verse for the next 2 weeks (and should every day anyway!)

Today.....
Today, Eli and Claire went to Mother's Day Out and stayed for a little longer - even ate lunch there. Well, they took lunches - who knows if they actually ate them. Keith and I went grocery shopping at Kroger. Big fun!
After naptime, we tried to put up the little pool we bought several years ago. It's one of those larger inflatable top pools and I think the kids would love it, since it isn't too deep - but the back yard is just too sloped :( So, it will have to wait until Keith gets back from camp - 2 weeks! Eli's pretty bummed, so I figure we'll just buy a smaller one for now. Better than nothing, when we're trying to entertain ourselves while daddy's gone. Eli had a good time playing with his friend Casen from down the road. We work with Casen's parents, and it's nice that Eli will have a good little friend who lives close by. It's totally our turn for him to come here, but I'm not sure how the next couple of weeks will go - so I hate to plan too much just yet.
Walmart and then DQ and a late bedtime. Maybe they'll sleep in tomorrow.
Oh, and great news on the career front. I am a nationally certified speech pathologist. We have to go through a rigorous 9 month fellowship after we graduate with our master's degree and then take a National test to get a Certificate of Clinical Competence. It's so similar to National Teacher Cert. but not all states take it that way. Some do, but not AR. Well, until now. There is enough surplus money in the state budget that, at least for one year, we will get the stipend that Nationally Board Certified teachers get. Only for one year and it won't come until the spring, but I'm excited nonetheless. Ya take what you get! Maybe they'll fund it for a longer time!

Swimming
Claire's always wanting to ride in the wagon and Eli had the bright idea to attach it it his tractor. Which, it might be noted that he is refusing to put the hood back on the tractor and is now calling it his hot rod. Yes, so he spends quite a bit of time watching the Speed channel with my dad! :P

Keith had to take a violin from one school to another and Eli was dying to look at it.

This afternoon we took the kids swimming. Eli's been begging to go swimming since school's been out, but he uses the term "swimming" very loosely. Swimming to him is standing in the water and pushing his water board around. He still has the idea that he can't get his ears wet, so he refuses to put his head in the water. He has swimming lessons in a few weeks, so we'll see how that goes. I hope it isn't a waste of time and money, but we both think it's too important not to try.
Claire wasn't all that sure about it either. She wanted in, then out, then in, then out. We don't have tons of time to take them swimming, so they just don't get all that comfortable with it I guess.
She would cry and then splash her hands in the water and then cry again. She eventually chilled out and seemed to enjoy it. It's only about the 2nd or 3rd time she's been swimming.

I thought I'd post a few pictures from Eli's end of year party. We've had one full week of summer vacation so far. Last week, I had 3 days of inservice, so it didn't really feel like break, yet. I had Speech Pathology Day (my first thing with the school-age people), a speech conference, and a technology inservice. Fun Fun! But, I have 18 hours out of the way!
Today, Eli and Claire went to Mother's Day Out at our church. They only stayed for 2 hours today, just to test the waters a little. I'm glad that they'll have a little something to do and I can clean out closets and stuff - and not worry about all the junk being strown around the house while I'm working! Not that my kids would ever make messes or anything!
Tomorrow Keith will be gone to take the girls to Color Guard camp and Drum major camp - I don't know what we'll do at home. Next week, he leaves for 2 weeks at Band Camp. That will be interesting!
Anyway, back to the pictures. Here's Eli with his teacher, Ms. Lisa. We will miss her next year. She was so sweet and I think they learned a lot!
Here's Ms. Madonna - the asst. teacher, Carley, Eli, Sophie, and Kaden. We will miss all these guys next year, if he ends up going to SR preschool, with me.

Silly boy, as always!

Here's the class, chowing down on cupcakes, cookies, chips, fruit, veggies and juice boxes. The Batman cupcakes were a huge hit and the boys had the icing smeared all over their faces. I'm afraid it was Eli that started that one! :P Probably can't see it well, but Kaden still has some icing all over his chin! (the little boy in the white shirt).
He had a good time at school this year. My favorite part was that Ms. Lisa and Ms. Madonna made a little journal for each of them. All year, they made sure to take pics of each kid doing each activity with other little things, like pictures they drew and how tall they were at different points during the year, etc... It is PRECIOUS! I'm so glad she did that.
